Sherfield-on-Loddon

STORM: A few fences came down and some other structural damage was done around the village following the recent violent storms, as well as the three-hour power cut.

Sally Hennessey, from the Old School House, said: "A row of six conifers was blown down on land behind our house, blocking access to our drive and a row of garages and bringing down phone lines.

"When the trees came down they took the phone wires with them and pulled out the bracket attached to our house wall.

"The bracket was then catapulted across our back garden and we found it later on - on the ground at the bottom of the garden.

"We were really lucky it didn't hit anyone as it could have killed them.

"Fortunately, with the help of a neighbour with a JCB, the debris was cleared and access restored."

JOURNEY to the Centre of the Earth: On Saturday afternoon at the village hall, we were taken on an unforgettable journey, as Mark Pencak (from the Blue Boat Theatre Company) brought his one-man show to Sherfield.

BARN dance: The village hall hosted a lively dance last Saturday, when Pitchfork guided the dancers through a series of barn dances.
