Downhill route to winter thrills

From the archive, first published Wednesday 29th Sep 1999.

THE piste descended on Calshot Activities Centre this weekend as the Southern Ski Show came to the Waterside.

And it was downhill all the way as skiers and snowboarders took to the slopes for free lessons and tips from the centre's team of ski instructors.

The Southampton Ski Centre's ski demo team provided thrills and spills as they showed off the latest craze to hit the slopes - snow-blading - and how to execute the perfect turn, from snow plough to carving and from slalom to jumps.

Ski resort ambassadors, retailers and tour operators were also on hand to show the places to be and the equipment to use during this year's ski season.
